The 10 Best Machine Guns To Shoot In Las Vegas
Are you itching to shoot a full-auto machine gun? The Range 702, the premier Las Vegas range, has a huge selection of guns to shoot. Our gun vault has everything from iconic World War II weapons to modern machine guns that fire hundreds of rounds per minute (RPM).
Not sure which gun to book for your experience? Here’s a look at the 10 best machine guns to shoot in Las Vegas:
1. MP5
The H&K MP5 is one of the most well-known submachine guns. It’s been used by law enforcement and special operations units since it was developed in the 1960s. The weapon features a short barrel and compact design but still sends rounds down range with plenty of velocity to get the job done.
The MP5 can fire up to 900 RPM. It can accept all sorts of accessories, including a suppressor. This highly customizable weapon is versatile and fun to shoot. You’ve probably seen it in Christmas movies like Die Hard and action flicks like John Wick: Chapter 2.
Everyone loves booking the MP5 for their Las Vegas shooting experience at The Range 702. The 9mm cartridge it fires produces a manageable amount of recoil. Even if you are brand new to shooting, you’ll have no problem handling this compact machine gun. Besides, our experienced range officers will be there to make sure everyone stays safe.
2. M249 SAW
The M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) has been a go-to option for the U.S. military since the 1980s. Troops used the weapon in Somalia (Black Hawk Down), Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. It can fire up to 850 RPM and will have you grinning from ear to ear.
While the M249 primarily functions as a belt-fed machine gun, it can also accept standard NATO 5.56mm rifle magazines. There are many different configurations of the M249, including a short-barrel paratrooper setup with a collapsible stock.
The one in our gun vault features a Picatinny-rail mounted optic and the standard bipod setup. You’ll have a chance to prop the bipod on a shooting bench in one of our firing lanes while you put rounds on target.
3. M4
The M4 Carbine is the standard issue rifle for the U.S. Military. Gunmakers developed the M4 by modifying the M-16 design and shortening the weapon. The more compact footprint made the gun more suitable for use against guerilla forces in Vietnam and promoted better maneuverability.
Many members of the U.S. armed forces use the M4 Carbine to this day. It’s reliable and time-tested.
While at The Range 702, you can fire this iconic weapon, which is chambered with 5.56x45mm NATO.
The 5.56 is nearly identical to the civilian .223 cartridge and produces similar ballistics performance. The rounds offer minimal recoil, but the weapon’s muzzle will rise when fired in full-auto, so hold on tight and follow all of our safety tips.
4. SCAR
The FN Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle (SCAR) first saw service in 2009. The 75 Ranger Regiment deployed the weapon system as part of an ongoing search for a more versatile solution that could replace both the M249 and the M4A1.
The SCAR-L fires the same cartridge as the M4A1 and the SCAR-H is chambered with 7.62x51mm NATO, making it a viable replacement for the SAW.
The U.S. Military ultimately scrapped the SCAR-L program because of the cost of the weapon, but SOCOM and several other operations groups still use the SCAR-H.
The Range 702 can configure our SCAR to fire either cartridge by simply swapping out the barrel. If you want to fire a modern assault rifle with exceptional accuracy, we recommend checking out the SCAR in our vault.
5. AK-47
The AK-47 is one of the most recognizable and infamous rifles in the world. It holds up in all sorts of conditions, including snow, sleet, and hail. According to the Smithsonian, the AK-47 fires a 7.62x39mm projectile and packs a serious punch.
You can fire our AK-47 in single-shot or fully automatic mode. Keep in mind that the larger cartridge will lead to a lot more muzzle rise. That’s why firing the AK on full auto is often referred to as “spray and pray.”
Don’t let that discourage you, though. Our state-of-the-art indoor machine gun range is the perfect environment to fling rounds at your target. Kick our AK into full auto and let the lead fly.
6. Thompson SMG
The Thompson submachine gun (SMG), better known as the Tommy gun, was an invaluable tool for American troops during the early part of World War II. It fires a .45 ACP cartridge and packs plenty of punch.
The Warfare History Network reports that the Tommy gun was replaced by the much cheaper grease gun in the second half of the war.
Prohibition-era gangsters and law enforcement adopted the gun in the 1920s, long before it made its way to Europe in the hands of Allied troops.
You’ve probably seen the Tommy gun in your favorite gangster movie. Tommy guns on the silver screen usually featured a 50 or 100-round drum magazine, but troops usually carried a 20-round stick magazine. We have both on hand at The Range 702.
Book an experience with the Chicago Typewriter, and let the gangster in you come alive.
7. P90
The FN P90 has a unique profile and interesting design. Its futuristic top-loading magazine and rotating feed mechanism put this weapon in the “Bullpup” category. You can swap between a single shot and full auto by engaging the selector switch.
The P90 fires a 5.7x28mm cartridge. This short rifle round is also used in a handful of pistols. You’ll appreciate the P90’s compact and lightweight design, as well as its minimal recoil.
While the top-loading magazine holds 50 rounds, you’ll burn through them fast, thanks to the weapon’s 900 RPM rate of fire. Don’t worry — our team will set you up with a few magazines so you can shoot to your heart’s content.
8. MG-42
Take a step back in time and fire the iconic MG-42 machine gun. It was developed by Germany during World War II and used extensively by German troops. Many are still in use today.
The MG-42 fires 1200-1500 RPM, making it one of the most destructive weapons on the battlefield. According to Britannica, the original design featured a 7.92mm cartridge. However, West Germany retrofitted the gun to accommodate the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge after joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
The Range 702 MG-42 is chambered in 7.62x51mm. It features the original belt-fed mechanism and can eat through ammunition fast.
9. Uzi
Are you a hardcore ‘80s action movie fan? If so, you have to check out the full-auto Uzi in our vault. This compact submachine gun is known for its small design and simple mechanics.
Developed in Israel in the 1950s, the Uzi has been featured in dozens of films and TV shows. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell, Bruce Willis, and many of your other favorite action stars have all wielded an Uzi on the silver screen.
The Uzi was also the go-to weapon for the U.S. Secret Service for decades. They adopted it for its compact design and concealability.
While the Uzi is chambered in 9mm, it kicks a lot more than weapons like the MP5. That’s because of its compact, minimalist design and high rate of fire. Don’t worry, though; The Range 702 staff will make sure you are comfortable using the weapon and know how to stay safe.
10. G36
German gunmakers are some of the most innovative in the world. The G36 is a masterpiece of German engineering and fires the standard NATO 5.56mm round.
It became the go-to option for the German Military in 1997 and features ambidextrous controls for all of the left-handed shooters out there. It offers pinpoint accuracy and manageable recoil.
The G36 features a folding stock, which is a unique feature for a full-sized assault rifle. It also has a transparent plastic magazine, which allows you to easily check how many rounds you have left. Also, it can fire up to 750 rounds per minute, which means your ammo will disappear fast.
